Professional virtual reality has now arrived to the city of Tampere

The city of Tampere is now developing at a breakneck speed with its multiple large-scale projects and initiatives. Something has been happening under the hood for the past few months within the old Finlayson factory in the heart of the city.

Over 15,000,000 pixels in some smooth 60 fps action! Just try some of that.

The city of Tampere is now developing at a breakneck speed with its multiple large-scale projects and initiatives. Something has been happening under the hood for the past few months within the old Finlayson factory in the heart of the city.

Now the general public, and especially the stakeholders of these (urban development and construction) projects can enter the city virtually in an immersive stereoscopic 3D-space, and explore how the city will look like in the future. (Tampere 3D-Galleria).

The system can also be used as an important tool for effective collaboration on various types of architectural 3D-models, aiding the decision-making during the meetings that will be held in the space. Good examples of such meetings are the constantly growing numbers of alliance contracting model -projects happening in Finland hand-in-hand with the Big Room -approach.

Tampere CAVE was implemented with top-notch technology. The Barco F50 2560 * 1600 pixels active stereo projectors were selected as projectors, giving CAVE a total resolution of more than 15,000,000 pixels, which is really high compared to for example virtual eyewear with only a couple of million pixels and about 100 degree viewing angles. In CAVE, the viewing angle is 180 degrees.

Customer Benefit: Multi-user, high-quality virtual reality experience that enables complex visualization to  help to understand complex design entities.
